S/S 23 insights from Milano Unica

What could you find at Milano Unica Spring / Summer 23 edition? Shiny surfaces – also given by metallic treatments – fluid fabrics, very light plissé. Sometimes, they were contrasted by matte and textured textiles such as terries, which were also used to line buttons.

Textures were rich, including wavy effects and fringe details. Bold stripes could be spotted in mood-boosting colours.

Foliage, floral embroidery and lurex macramé embellished fabric surfaces.

A section focusing on purity and simplicity in harmony with nature was also present, characterised by a touch of craftsmanship that could be found in both fabrics and trimmings. In this story, textures were given by using for example slub yarns, as in the case of cotton gauzes. The use of natural fabrics – including hemp, cotton and nettle – is key in this aesthetic.
